The NBS informs the public that, at an extraordinary meeting held today, the Executive Board adopted a measure extending the period within which the public postal operator and authorised exchange dealers must return foreign currency cash purchased from banks. The measure aims to preserve stability in the exchange market and ensure the continuous supply of foreign currency cash to citizens.
Under this measure, the public postal operator and authorised exchange dealers may return foreign currency cash purchased from banks within 30 days, instead of the previous 15-day period. The measure will apply until 10 December 2026.
The NBS emphasises that the FX market in the Republic of Serbia is stable and that banks and authorised exchange dealers have sufficient quantities of foreign currency cash to meet all domestic market needs.
Citizens’ interests and the preservation of market stability remain at the forefront of the NBS’s activities. To this end, the NBS continuously monitors developments in the FX and exchange market and, through its responsible approach, will not allow any non-market or artificial disruptions in foreign exchange operations.
