On media reports regarding the availability of euros at exchange offices

In response to media reports, the NBS informs the public that, according to the data available to it based on the reports submitted by authorised exchange dealers by 10 a.m. on 27 October 2026, authorised exchange dealers fully met the increased demand for euros from citizens during October, selling EUR 571.6 mn to citizens and purchasing EUR 515.3 mn from them. This means that authorised exchange dealers sold more euros to citizens than they purchased from them, recording net sales of EUR 56.3 mn. Banks that have concluded agreements for the provision of exchange services have continuously and timely supplied authorised exchange dealers with euros to meet the increased demand from citizens. During October, banks sold around EUR 40.27 mn to authorised exchange dealers.

An examination of the preliminary data for Monday, 26 October 2026, shows that authorised exchange dealers carried out transactions involving the sale of euros to citizens that day (around 41,060 sale transactions), in which they sold around EUR 26.2 mn, as well as transactions involving the purchase of euros from citizens (around 137,580 purchase transactions), in which they purchased around EUR 23.4 mn (net sales of EUR 2.8 mn). The average buying rate applied by authorised exchange dealers for the euro that day was RSD 116.83 per euro, while the average selling rate was RSD 118.51 per euro. On that day, authorised exchange dealers purchased EUR 4.75 mn from banks.
This confirms that the FX market is functioning smoothly and that citizens can carry out exchange transactions in line with their needs. The NBS will continue to monitor all developments closely and, in accordance with its mandate, take appropriate measures to preserve stability and confidence in the domestic currency.

The NBS points out that, in accordance with its statutory powers and supervisory function in the area of FX operations, it continuously monitors the legality and regularity of foreign exchange operations conducted by authorised exchange dealers. Over the past year, no irregularities have been identified in the setting of exchange rates for the euro, nor have exchange dealers charged commissions for exchange transactions involving the purchase or sale of foreign currency cash in the form of valid banknotes, i.e. banknotes that are undamaged and in circulation.
