The National Bank of Serbia has released today 1 and 2-dinar coins (with steel core), and 5, 10 and 20-dinar coins (made of copper, zinc and nickel alloy).
The obverse of 1, 2, 5 and 10-dinar coins features “2012” as the year of minting and the reverse displays the Great Coat-of-Arms of the Republic of Serbia changed in accordance with the Decree on Establishing the Original Great and Small Coats-of-Arms, Flag and National Anthem of the Republic of Serbia.
The 20-dinar coin, also displaying “2012” as the year of minting, has been altered significantly, with the portrait of Mihajlo Pupin featured on the obverse.
While all of the above denominations are issued primarily to meet the regular yearly needs of cash payment transactions, the 20-dinar coin, traditionally, features distinguished figures in the fields of science, culture, history, politics and sports and marks events of national or global importance.
