In view of the allegations appearing in the media, the NBS would like to point out that transfers of funds of financial institutions are carried out through the regular payment system channels, in accordance with applicable regulations and established procedures.
The NBS continuously supervises and controls the operations of all banks in order to preserve financial system stability. In this regard, presenting and disseminating unverified claims does not contribute to objective public information, but may cause unjustified concern and undermine confidence in the stability of the financial system.
Responsible public communication entails verifying information and refraining from irresponsible statements that may cause panic. Protecting the NBS’s reputation and public confidence in its work means that the activities of this institution are discussed on the basis of verified facts, with respect for professional responsibility.
