In accordance with the NBS Action Plan for Implementation of the NPL Resolution Strategy, which envisages the enhancement of transparency of banking operation in regard to asset quality, the NBS has published the Guidelines for Disclosure of Bank Data and Information Related to the Quality of Assets.
The NBS wishes to underscore that the responsibility for compilation of financial statements, including the disclosure of data and information therein, is exclusively and indisputably within the remit of the bank’s management, while the external auditor gives an opinion on whether a bank’s annual financial statements are prepared in compliance with the International Accounting Standards and/or the International Financial Reporting Standards.
The NBS believes that these Guidelines represent good business practice and supports their application by banks. The NBS will continuously monitor the banks’ practice in regard to the disclosure of data and information relating to asset quality.
